Planting Trees for Abe and Pen

Planting Trees for Abe and Pen

In May, Patrick and I planted two trees in honor of our kids.

We planted a Dawn Redwood for Abraham and a Weeping Willow for Penelope.

Abe was born in Berkeley, California, and before we left the bay, we took him to the redwood forest. He was only six months old, but I know a part of him is fused with those towering giants. Evergreens have always been his favorite trees.

Penelope has always loved a weeping willow. Her essence is to lay on her back in the grass, shoes off, and feel the earth under her. Perhaps we’ll be able to do that one day under her new tree.

Right now, the trees look like twigs, but if all goes well, they’ll grow into vast, magical, majestic beings – just like the people they honor.

I made some tags to label them and to give them a little pizzazz until they grow into their glory.
