Announcing the 2023 Artists in Residence!

This land that we call Spring Bird has also been called Siloam, Torkel Korling’s Arboretum, a dairy farm, and has been/is occupied Potawatomi, Peoria, Sioux, Ho-Chunk, Miami & Kickapoo Land. 

While this land that we call Spring Bird has had many identities, it has always been a magnet for art making and artists.

And so, Patrick and I are so delighted to further nurture the connections between this land and its artists by awarding the 2023 Artists in Residence at Spring Bird Cottage.

This year’s recipients are Atoy Spates and Rachel Davis! 

Rachel @art_bumble plans on exploring the origins of color by composing a textile record of her natural plant dyes. 

Atoy @atoi.glennette intends to use her residency to explore deep writing and intentional resting while also sharing her retreat space with other creatives.
