Winter Spiders

This image comes from the Winter Issue of Woolgathering, where I wrote about living with spiders during this cold season.
Surprisingly, spiders have shown up unexpectedly during these extremely cold days. Several times, I’ve witnessed chickadees fly to the corners of our picture windows, hover, and peck off dead spiders, bugs, webs, old egg sacks (not sure which) from our dirty windows.
I’m super stunned into admiration for these resourceful birds harvesting food where they can find it, and I am super duper justified in not keeping a clean exterior house.

Have you ever witnessed this phenomenon? Do you live with spiders?
