Visible Mending
I love the visible mending movement and am grateful for all of the accessible tutorials from generous sewists that make mending look so easy and beautiful.
I had a go at Patrick’s jeans the other day, and I think my mending looks like the Circus Maximus in Rome. I imagine tiny little chariots racing around the central green patch.
Regardless of its appearance, the mending should prove useful to Patrick.
Mending not only provides beauty and is a great way to extend the life of clothes, it offers lovely metaphors for life. When we tend to our broken bits – our wounds and holes – we have an opportunity to heal and create beauty in our lives.
What do you mend? What is worth saving?
