Staircase Mural

I succumbed, once again, to scratch that familiar itch of painting on walls. (Must activate the negative space!)
This particular triangle of wall used to display a small cluster of tiny paintings featuring cats. It was a sort of mini-gallery, but it needed a refreshing change – something expansive and dynamic.

And – this particular triangle of wall is one of my favorite shapes in this house. It’s one of those spaces that makes me think about the maker – Mr. Torkel Korling. I’m not sure why.
Anyway, I wanted to paint something branching and viney. This is what came out.

I haven’t yet adjusted to the new mural. So, everytime that I move between floors, I’m a little startled – in a good way. It makes me smile.
So much appreciation for my cohabitants who indulge my tendency to paint on walls! They sort of sigh and look away.
