Pamphlet Books
This weekend I made some pamphlet books to be used as sketchbooks, journals, or secret code books. Who knows? It’s up to the user to fill the pages with whatever secrets they choose to commit to the blank page.
I’m a huge fan of blank books and the practice of filling them. There’s nothing quite like that feeling of making your own mark on a blank page. It’s proof of our being alive – I guess?
Anyway, these little pamphlet books are composed of sketchbook paper. Their cover is made from bristol paper, which I scribbled on with oil pastel and then painted with watercolor.
Finally, I cut out leaf shapes inspired by Matisse from a fashion magazine, fixed them to the fronts, and sealed them with an acrylic gel medium. Finally, the books are bound with cotton thread.

Do you like filling up blank books and sketchbooks? Do you prefer blank pages, lines, dots, or grids?
I like everything but lines.
