Organic Rootz

We ended our winter break with our first trip to Organic Rootz, a health food store that is located just down the road from us in Algonquin.

I’ve been meaning to visit for a LONG while. To be honest, we are much more likely to be driving-through the Dairy Queen that’s located across the street. (we are suckers for soft serve)

I think I didn’t realize that Organic Rootz was much more than a vitamin shop. Although, ironically, that is what first drew me there. I was in need of some vegan Omega-3’s and in the words of the lass who works at the drugstore, “Walgreens is a little behind the times.”

Well, Organic Rootz is definitely future thinking and sells vegan Omega-3’s as well as Sea Moss (which I’m looking forward to trying) AND sells organic smoothies, salads, sandwiches, soup, bowls, and other delicious and nutritious foods. All of the food is vegetarian if not vegan. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced – like the gluten free bread. 

In addition they provide all of the dry ingredients you might need to bolster your witchy potions – everything from bergamot to bee pollen to dried mushrooms.

I love when food feels both like an indulgent treat and an agent supporting your health. (i.e. does not come with the stomach ache that accompanies a trip to DQ.)

What’s more, it always feels amazing to support a local business – especially a business so lovingly tended to as Organic Rootz. 

We recommend all of the things that we ordered.

Penelope tried the Dragon Smoothie Bowl.

Abe had a Tropical Passion Smoothie and a Rootz Sandwich.

I enjoyed a Green Vibe Smoothie.
