Ocean
If we are lucky, we may find ourselves on a beach at the sea this Summer.
If we are not so lucky, we may take pleasure in knowing that the sea exists inside us always.
We, living organisms, were birthed from the sea like Aphrodite.
We hear its pulse in the flow of our blood, and we taste its saltiness in our tears.
On its shores we receive the abundance of all that our oceans have to offer us.
I wrote about my own relationship to our vast bodies of saltwater in the Summer Issue of Woolgathering.
For me, the oceans are overwhelming, a bit anxiety producing, and absolutely, breathtakingly wonderful.
I find it a bit easier to relate to these extensive, mysterious watery realms when I think about our primordial origins there.
We are ocean. We are beach. And They are us.
There is so much more to learn and discover about these ancient ecosystems, and we are fools to be destroying them.
I hope we can stop abusing them and begin cherishing them before it’s too late!
