Lots of Pots!
During these last few months, I have been enjoying making lumpy, heavy and clunky terracotta pots.
This process of rolling, stacking, and smoothing coils into a cohesive whole is a creative therapy that is very much welcomed and needed right now.
In addition, I love when my creativity intersects with my passion for plants, nature, and growing things. Yay to functional art!
I don’t presume to be making quality, crafted ceramics. This is not about that. It’s about the process of working it out with my hands.
Of course, it’s hard for me not to paint things. So, I went ahead and painted them with acrylics and sealed them with a varnish spray to protect them from water.
So far, I have not had any cracking. My original, original batch of smaller ones, which I did not spray, cracked. I should have known better.
Anyway, you live, you learn, and you make more pots.
Which one is your favorite?
