Leaf Art: Halos or Ghost Images
It’s fun to creatively engage with Fall leaves!
Beyond marveling at their beauty or collecting them for inside adornment, there are more simple ways leaves can inspire beautiful creations.
For instance, you can make art from the “ghost” images left behind on scratch paper that result from making a print of your leaf.
Another approach could be to paint a halo around your leaf.
In this case, I painted leaves on a bit of scratch paper in order to “ink” them for printing. I actually used acrylic paint instead of ink.
Once the paint dried, I cut apart the scrap papers to have these little collage pieces to glue into the sketchbook.
I then painted the negative space with black acrylic paint and the insides of the leaf ghosts with watercolor paint.
And finally, I used Posca pens to doodle everywhere – because why not?
I’ll be sharing some more leaf art techniques in the days ahead!
Let me know if you give this a try!
