Happy Arbor Day! I feel so grateful to be surrounded by trees with whom I am in love! The greatest of my loves are the oaks and the sycamores, but there is a beech that is also catching my attention these days.
My husband Patrick is busy fostering trees that will feed us – namely hazelnut, apple, pear, and most recently a lemon tree!
Our cherry tree has blossoms, and the ground is littered with maple buds – amassing in little red clusters. The yews have worn areas on their resilient branches, where bucks have rubbed the fuzz off their new antlers. It’s a good season to be a tree and to appreciate all that they do for us!
Last year, I wrote my love letter to the Great Oak in the form of an activity book complete with activities for every season. I think it’s lovely to connect with these amazing plants, many who have been growing and bearing witness to life for generations.
Take some time to give some thanks to a tree near you – maybe even a hug!
