Empty Nest Syndrome

Empty Nest Syndrome

Winter is a good time to spot bird and squirrel nests.

Coming across unused nests sparks a wistful feeling — sort of like when you visit a vacation town out of season. Nostalgia and memory flood your mind as you imagine the activity that once was present.

But there is also that feeling of hope and excitement at knowing that they will return.

Whoever built this little nest will come back to rebuild.

When they return, the leaves will be thick on the trees, and I will not be able to easily locate the nests or their inhabitants.

I’m lucky to glimpse them now.
