Leaf Art: Rubbing
It’s fun to creatively engage with Fall leaves!
Beyond marveling at their beauty or collecting them for inside adornment, there are more simple ways leaves can inspire beautiful creations.
For instance, you can make subtle leaf rubbings that reveal their delicate veins.
That’s what I did here. I made three leaf rubbings using colored pencils. To make a leaf rubbing, use lightweight paper like printer or sketch paper. Hold the leaf in place and rub with the side of your colored pencil. Crayon would also work.
After I made the rubbings, I painted the leaf shape with watercolors.
Finally, I did a bunch of doodles with ink and white gel pen.
I’ll be sharing some more leaf art techniques in the days ahead!
