Signs of Fall
There are some seasonal changes that are not necessarily connected to our natural worlds.
As Summer starts to fade into Fall (don’t worry, there is still plenty of Summer ahead), two seasonal markers of Fall have shown themselves already.
One is “Jean Jacket Weather”!
I altered my jacket with a drawn, painted, and appliqued blue cat. The cat was inspired by – well – all cats (they are miracles) – and the blue cats of Andy Warhol.
The second marker of Fall is that next week, my kiddos return to school, and that means today we ate our annual back-to-school breakfast at Benedict’s Restaurant in East Dundee.
The sentiment is bittersweet. We’re excited for the new school year but mourning the end of a lazy Summer.
At least we have whip cream, blueberries, grilled potatoes, and denim to see us through these weeks of change.
Gah! I’m just savoring these two humans like they’re my morning cup of coffee.
If you are going back to school soon, I’m wishing you a wonderful year! If you are about to begin teaching soon, I thank you for your hard work. If you are sending someone to school soon, I sigh along with you and am available for a cup of coffee if you want to decompress and/or digest.
