Happy Full Moon!
I choose to honor the blue heron this month!
And while I don’t think I’ve ever seen one land in a tree or stand in the creek at Spring Bird, they do fly over me quite frequently (as one did just an hour ago) on their way to deeper waters.
That’s what is so interesting about blue herons and other water birds. They have these elegant long legs and long necks that make it easy for them to wade into deeper waters to fish. For that reason, they are known for their self-reliance and self-sufficiency.
While we humans are no doubt social animals, and strong communities are what make strong individuals, I’m such a fan of being self-reliant.
There is great power in having your own back, taking care of your own needs, and going into the deep end knowing that you have legs long enough to stand.
This month has been thick with fear and anxiety for me, but I am confident that I have the legs to stand above it and catch my fish while I’m at it. (My fish is plant-based though!)
Have a great month!
